This months showcase driver for January 08 is Billy Wicker.

Introducing: Billy Wicker, Five Time Championship Winner!

A little about Billy

Billy is 42 years old and has been married to Lori for 17 years. They have a daughter, Justine, 21 and a son, Axle, who is 15 years, and one of our other showcase feature this month! Billy shared that his dad primarily influenced him to get in to racing.

"He would always have a race on TV, and he would take me to local race tracks to watch", Billy stated.

He currently races at Kankakee Motor Speedway, in Kankakee, IL.

When asked which race stand out most in his mind, he commented the 2006 Josh Kohler Memorial Race at Kankakee did because the race went 21 straight laps green, cars were 4-5 way, 2 rows back for 10 laps. At one point, he was 10th, but ended up winning the race. He stated even if he did not win, it would still remain one of his most memorable races, because it was fun racing that close without anyone wrecking. "Everyone was definitely on their 'A' game that night", Billy added.

Billy's favorite driver? Scott Bloomquist. He is Inspired by Dennis Erb Jr., because according to Billy, he does the most with the least.

Billy would love to race at Eldora. (This seems to be a common thing for most of our showcase drivers!) As to why? Billy stated, "Because it's so fast, looks like a lot of fun and it would be cool because of the history behind it".

Billy also shared, "My 1st year of racing I went to Crown Point Speedway, at Crown Point, IN. I rolled my car in turn 3 and 4. It went over pretty easy and ended up on its roof. I figured I was done, so when we got the car back to the trailer, I was loading it when Eddie Leviner came over. (He ran very well at Crown Point) He asked what I was doing. I told him I just rolled the car so I was loading it. He looked over the car and said, it looks ok to me, just put some oil in it and run the consi. So I did and ended up winning my 1st race!"

Billy's Most Cherished wins? Billy shared, "Winning the Championship in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2006, and 2007" and also winning the Josh Kohler Memorial."

What advice does he pass on to a rookie? To Just be patient and keep at it. "You are probably gonna have more BAD nights, then good nights. BUT the good nights are worth it! Just remember if it loads it's self under its own power...... it's been a GOOD night.", comments Billy.

Billy's plans for 08: Running at Kankakee and possibly Kamp Motor Speedway, Boswel, IN.

He attributes his wife, Lori, for helping with his success in racing. "She has been my biggest supporter & helper.", Billy stated, "Also, my kids, Justine & Axle, my father in law, Denny Miller, and brother in law, Damon Miller. I have to THANK them all!"

Billy also shares, "I've had a lot of fun racing and look forward to many more years to come, not only with my racing career but my son's. He started racing 2 years ago and I feel he has come along way in a short time!"

Billy would like to thank, RPM Graphics, Donald & Debbie's Dog House, Village Pub, Case Auto body, & Rhyne III Competition Engines.
