Stats: Name: April Farmer Car Class: super late model Location: Livingston Tennessee A thought from Dirt Scoops: When I got this information for an interview, I was really excited because this is the second female driver I have had the pleasure of adding to Dirt Scoops, but what really topped it off, was the fact that this lady drove a 'super late model'. I thought, wow, she has to have some guts to do this! After learning about April, I realized she wasn't a stranger to racing. I look forward to following her career and hope she continues to do well. So far, she is doing pretty good for herself! And, now, I want to share her information with you... |
Dirt Scoops: Tell us how you got interested in racing: April: "I started racing atv's when I was 3 years old and I have over 100 wins. I moved up to mini stocks when I was 15 and won 1 feature and 3rd in the championship the first season. I had several wins and top 5 finished in that division then I moved up to late models at the age of 18."
Dirt Scoops: Tell us about your family: April: "I married my high school sweetheart, Chris, seven years ago and he is my crew chief. I have a three year old daughter named, Brianna and a nine month old daughter, Brailee. We have a miniature pomeranian, Katie and a golden retriever, Lilly. I have a brother that races late models also."
Dirt Scoops: List your career high lights: April: "3rd in points championship at Crossville Raceway, 5th in pts. championship at Tennessee Motor Speedway, numerous wins in atv racing , mini stocks, and late models." Dirt Scoops: Which one of your races stands out the most in your mind and why:
April: "Of course it would be my first win in the mini stock division and almost being the first woman to make it in a World of Outlaw feature until I got put in the wall and breaking my arm." Dirt Scoops: We all know it takes more than one person to be successful in racing, who do you feel contributes to your career success? April: "My husband and I maintain the cars and equipment and my parents are the sole supporters financially." "As a family, we all work really hard to keep everything professional and a top competitor." April in action on the track. Dirt Scoops: What tracks do you race at? April: "I race all over Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama,Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, and South Carolina." Dirt Scoops: List your sponsors: April: "Tennessee Rotary Drilling,Young Oil Company, Bearden Oil Company, Cooper Recycling, Livingston Limestone, Dale Lumber Company, GW Performance, Ohlins , Bell, Delph Communications, Simpson, DH signs, Lady Eagle Safety Wear." Dirt Scoops: Any special events or news for the upcoming season you would like to share with your fans? April: "I am following the Advance auto parts thunder series and currently leading the rookie of the year points and llth overall". Dirt Scoops: What advice would you pass on to a rookie driver?
April: "My advice to rookie drivers is
