This months showcase driver for the Superstock Class is Jeremy Hines - 5H!

This month we are showcasing Jeremy Hines, who is currently the 2007 Bloomington Superstock Track Champion.

Anyone who has watched Jeremy race, knows that he is all business on the track, and gets it done! I noted during the interview, that even though he is very competitive on the track, Jeremy laughed a lot in between questions and he radiated a friendly personality. His passion for racing showed in his demeanor and choice of words, and I could tell he thoroughly enjoys racing. I also noticed with him as a lot of others, he feels racing is a family sport, in which his whole family is involved and shares in the excitement of the dirt racing sport. I have also noticed through other interviews, families that share racing together, and support each other usually tend to excel in this sport, as Jeremy's accomplishments is another fact of this observation.

This year he is sporting a new GUMM Chassis, but with the same number and color scheme everyone is used to seeing on the track. Off to a good start, and the racing season has only just begun, he has already won a feature this year at Brownstown Speedway!

And now, on to the interview...

A little about Jeremy:

Jeremy currently resides in Seymour, Indiana, with his wife, Carrie and two children, 5 year old Luke and 7 year old Emma. He was around racing when he was growing up, supporting his father, Rick Hines on and off the track. This primarily got him interested in racing, however, father Rick had some different ideas about Jeremy racing, and had a strict requirement before he would help Jeremy get a car. That requirement was, "Go to college, then we will get you a car!". Jeremy laughed that after college, his dad held up his end of the bargain.

Dads requirement, "Go to college, then we will get you a car!".

I asked Jeremy what class he got started in, and he replied it was in the superstock class. I commented that he started out big, and he laughed and stated, "I jumped in with both feet first!", and he paused, then giggled, "Dad threw me to the wolves!".

Jeremy has been racing since 1999, but 2000 was his first full year of racing. In 2000, he won his first and only feature of the year, the famed "Mark Clark Memorial". (An awesome accomplishment for a rookie!)

When asked what race stands out the most in his mind and why, he immediately laughed and said, "In one of the regular races, I was racing against dad, he came in first and I came in second! Even though I have raced in big races, I think racing against dad is my favorite"

He admits it takes a lot of funds to stay competitive in the sport, and contributes success to his mom and dad, his wife Carrie, his grandfather, Charles Hines, his uncle, Don Hines and his brothers, Joe and Jacoby. He also stated a lot of the help comes from car owner and partner, Jeff Martin. It took a lot of garage hours to run the 40 races he ran last year, he stated he had a lot of help from family and friends.

Jeremy has a total of 33 feature wins since 2000!

He has a career total of 33 features to date, with the newest being last week, April 5th, 2008 at Brownstown Speedway. We know there will be more feature wins for Jeremy in the future!

Some of his career high lights include, of course, 33 feature wins to date, 2006 and 2007 Bloomington Speedway Track Championships, winner of the 2000 Mark Clark Memorial, winner of the 2003 Street Stock Nationals at Brownstown Speedway , and the winner of the Memorial Day Shoot out at Fayette County , Illinois in 2005.

When asked what advice he would pass on to a rookie driver just getting in the sport, he replied, " Not to be a one track wonder", he paused, "Run as many tracks as you can".
