About Troy's Car

Troy currently races a superstock, which is owned by his sister Karen Clark-Forys and her husband Don. The chassis was built by Rick Gumm.

Troy originally started racing in 1986. He ran in 1986 and 1987 then he stopped racing until 1991. Since 1991, he ran Street stocks, Bombers, modifieds, pure stocks, mini stocks, cruisers, and enduro cars. He also participated in demolition derbies.

About Troy's Pit Crew

Troy's pit crew consists of his cousin Brian Vermillion, his brother in law Don, Tommy Deppe, and his good friend Roger Deppe. Without this group, Troy couldn’t have had as much success as he had during the 2007 racing season.

The racing year 2007

During the year 2007, Troy ran (7) different tracks. He had at least (1) win at each track, except for (1), in which he broke. His home tracks that he normally races at are Bloomington, Brownstown and Twin Cities. He has also raced at Lawrenceburg, Moler Raceway in Ohio, White Water and Kokomo. One track that he wants to race at and hasn't yet is Eldora.

Troy currently is the 2007 Brownstown Superstock Champion, and came in 2nd in points championship at both Bloomington and Twin Cities. Troy has had numberous Feature wins at all of these tracks.

Troy's thoughts...

When asked what got him interested in racing, Troy explained that he started going to the races with his dad as a child, and always wanted to race. When asked what his favorite class was to race, since he has had experience in so many classes, he indicated that Superstock was his favorite, but he loves anything as long as he is racing.

Which driver inspired him the most? Clark indicated he doesn't have just (one) favorite driver. He expanded by saying he looks up to and respects a lot of them. His cousin, Tim Clark (#1 Superstock), has probably inspired him more than anyone else.

Troy wanted to thank his dad, Joe Clark for helping him get started. Also, Karen and Don Forys the car owners. "Without them I wouldn't be racing", he explains "Also, Kevin Caudell, Brian and Chris Vermillion, Roger Deppe, Rick Gumm, Big Rick Gumm, Rob Young, my wife and kids, Gary Herche, Dave Hill, Mike Stigdon, Brad Wedan, Mary Bottorff, Dave Waggoner,Vickie Owens, Mark Schaefer, Mike Bechelli.and anyone else I forgot." Without these people, he wouldn't be where he is today.

Of all of the wins he has had in his career, the one that stands out most in Troy's mind and the one he is most proud of is opening night at Brownstown Speedway in 2007. "This is the first time my boys saw me win a feature", quoted Clark.

What's Next?

Next year, he plans to race at Bloomington, hopefully Lawrenceburg. Troy commented other tracks are still up in the air about scheduling. He may run some asphalt races depending on how things work out. Hopefully he will be able to get back to racing some quads as well. When asked about moving up to late model, he has no plans to move up right now.

What advice would Troy pass on to a rookie or a newcomer getting in to racing?

Troy replied, "Don't ever give up! Sometimes it gets frustrating but don't quit, and listen to what other drivers have to say."

He and his family are looking forward to racing in 2008 and hope to have as good a year then as they did in 2007.
