Feb. 6, BEST DIRT TRACK DRIVERS IN WORLD COMING TO ATTICA

By Brian Liskai
liskai2x@cros.net

ATTICA, Ohio (Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008) - The world's best dirt track racers
will help Attica Raceway Park celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2008.

The 23-race schedule is full of special races in addition to one of the
toughest weekly racing programs in the United States featuring the
fire-breathing, mud-slinging 410 sprints, side-by-side action of the 305
sprints, wheel-hiking, ground-pounding Attica Late Models and the
door-banging dirt trucks. In fact, the A-main features alone - for all four
divisions - will payout $523,865 in 2008! (Read more....click here)

Feb. 5, Tuesday Night at East Bay - From Dirt Scoops Reporter Scott Miller (Check our forum for more entries from Scott!)

The feature line up once again was a whose who in dirt late model racing. Donnie Moran lead the field to the green from his pole posistion with Don Oneal next to him. Oneal once again was the man to beat as he quickly built a lead over the star studded field. The turning point of the race came on lap 18 as Moran and Tim Dohm got together in turn 1. Feb. 4, Monday's Feature at East Bay - From Dirt Scoops Reporter, Scott Miller

If Monday is any indication, people will be leaving East Bay at the end of the week with plenty to talk about. Unfortunately we had problems with our hotel rooms and missed most of the preliminary action, which saw Tim Dohm set fast time.

The feature line up was a virtual all star line up:

Row 1: Don Oneal and Tirkowitz(from canada)
Row 2: Justin Ratliff and Dennis Erb Jr.
Row 3: Steve francis and Donnie Moran
Row 4: Tim Dohm and Shannon Babb
Row 5: Terry Casey and Eric Jacobsen
Row 6: Billy Moyer and Scott James
Row 7: Billy Drake and Mike Marlar
Row 8: Matt Miller and Vic Coffey
Row 9: Tim McCreadie and Kevin Cole
Row10: Hawkins and Randy Korte
Row 11: Eddie Carrier Jr. and Damon Eller
Row 12: Harper and Terry English
Row 13: Clint Smith

Don Oneal from Martinsville, IN lead every lap on his way to Victory lane, but the battle for second was intense. Justin Ratliff held on to second most of the race till Matt Miller got by with 3 laps remaining. Dennis erb was running fourth as the field got the white flag, with an amazing drive off of turn 2 he got by Rattliff and then powered by Miller to take second at the stripe.

Randy Korte was involved in a lap 3 crash with Billy Drake. Korte was taken out of the car and loaded on to a stretcher. The announcer did not release any info on the conditon of Korte, but he was seen at the end of the night being transported to a local hospital. I will try to find out more on his condition tomorrow or the rest of the week.

Also on a sad note the father of late Model driver Michael England past away Sunday night. Please keep the England Family in all of our prayers. This was an emotional loss and many of the drivers were racing in memory of him tonight.

Here is a picture of Donnie in victory lane!

Volunteer Speedway - Bulls Gap, TN
Volunteer Speedway - 2008 racing information
BULLS GAP, Tenn. — The four classes racing weekly in 2008 at Volunteer Speedway will be Super Late Model, Crate Late Model, Hobby Stock and Mini Stock. The tentative rules found on the track Web site (2008 Track Rules) will be followed for the 2008 season.

All Mini Stock competitors please pay close attention: The Mini Stock cars are very important to the weekly racing programs at Volunteer Speedway. But being the Mini Stock car-count has steadlily declined over the past couple of seasons, on occasions dropping below 10 cars during the 2007 racing season, car-count must pick up in 2008 for this class to remain. The track is looking for at least a 12-14 car field weekly. So Mini Stock competitors, spread the word around to all of your fellow racers and talk it up ... the car-count must be healthy. Below 10 cars will not be sufficient for the class to exist!!!!!

The 2008 racing season will open Feb. 29-March 1 with the running of the Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series $10,000-to-win "10th Annual Spring Thaw 100."

Weather cooperating, the track hopes to hold a couple of Saturday afternoon open practices during the second half of the month of February. When tentative practice date(s) are decided, the information will be here on the track Web site and on the track phone recording.
