Chili Bowl Update!

Year after year for the past ten years we stroll into what is now the Quick Trips Expo Center on a promise of "The best drivers and the best racing you will ever see". You never know what to expect when a promoter makes a claim such as this, but Promoter Lanny Edwards means and produces every word. Tonights action saw the likes of Levi Jones, of Tony Stewart Racing, Danny Lasoski, World of Outlaw Sprint Car Champion, Casey Shuman, California open wheel Hot Shoe and even New York phenom Tim McCreadie. With a passing point system built with one thing in mind, PASS OR DONT MAKE THE A-Main the Chili Bowl Qualifying nights are always action packed. Several drivers had some hard luck with the "aggressive" passing happening throughout the heat races and qualifyers. Jerry Coons Jr. looked to be the man to beat all night long as he made his passes in his heat and qualifyer, but the man who turned the most laps and made the most progress was Aaron Fiscus who had a mediocre heat race, but won his last chance race, came from the back of his qualifyer, then passed his way up to second in the A-main event. Fiscus definitely sets himself as the man to beat. He was only topped by Josh Ford in one of the 9 Kunz entries. Behind Fiscus was Jerry "Coondog" Coons Jr. followed closely by Bryan Clauson. Tony Stewart Racing's Levi Jones had a second row starting spot, but spun on lap one and was relegated to the tail of the field after winning his heat and qualifyer. Coons also stepped up as one to beat, but just as he would make progress, he would jump the cushion losing a couple of spots. the hard luck award has to go to Casey Shuman who was running second in his qualifyer, after a stellar heat race run, when an aggressive pass was tried by a competitor, bending his exhaust straight out and punturing a hole in his left rear tire. Shuman refused the black flag when it was shown to him under a yellow, but even though he finished 2nd on the track, he was scored as last (OH, he was not happy). According to officials, the only tire you can run flat with is the left front even though he was under control finishing the last 4 laps with it flat. All in all a stellar night of racing as usual.

Complete results will be posted on www.chilibowl.com and dont forget, if you cant make it you can still watch Fridays action on Nascar.com and Saturdays action on HBO Pay Per View, get some buddies together and call your favorite sports bar to see if they will order it.

Thursday Night will see the likes of Tony Stewart himself, originally scheduled to compete on friday, but a scheduling conflict forces him to switch to Thursday Nights roster.

If anyone has any questions I will get them answered the best I can. Sorry I dont have the complete results, cheering too much and dont want to put my beer down to write down the finishes.....lol......j/k They are probably posted before I get done with this and they do a better job than I do......

Darrell, Levi looked relly fast, but the spin sent him to the tail and it went most of the way green, so I dont think he made it very far back through.....That should put him into a C-main possibly even a B for Sat. I will try to find out......Hard to tell with the passing points till Sat.

Well, I can hear the hotel lounge the "Elephant Run Lounge" as I type, so I think we might partake in the activities.....By the way if you ever do make it to the Chili Bowl stayinng at the Trade Winds Inn Central is a must. It is where most of the drivers and crews stay (at least it is where they party). After the lounge closes, an un-named individual opens up a banquet room and that is when the real partying begins.....Better call for your reservations early, it is always SOLD OUT!!!!!!!

You can also listen to the webcast on www.racinboys.com.

Josh ford wins, fiscus 2nd, coons 3rd, Clauson 4th
