Tuesday Night at East Bay - Reported by Scott Miller

Ok everyone todays report will not be as complete as Mondays as I left my notebook in the room. All of this will be from memory, so please forgive me for any incorrect info.

First off I would like to report that the information I recieved was that Randy Korte was just sore after his crash Monday night.

Matt Miller showed that he was going to be a force all night as he set quick time in qualifying. Miller also won his heat race in dominating fashion. Don Oneal off of his Monday feature win was still making his presence known as he to dominated his heat race. Other heat and consi winners will be posted later. Chuck Harper won the Strawberry dash.

The feature line up once again was a whose who in dirt late model racing. Donnie Moran lead the field to the green from his pole posistion with Don Oneal next to him. Oneal once again was the man to beat as he quickly built a lead over the star studded field. The turning point of the race came on lap 18 as Moran and Tim Dohm got together in turn 1. Both cars suffered some damage. This opened the door for Matt Miller, running, I believe 4th at the time of the yellow flag, Miller was able to use the Delaware Double File restart to move to the inside of the second row. Miller quickly began working on Oneal getting his nose under him coming out of turn 2. Oneal was able to power his way back out front, but Miller was patient and continued to use the low groove to his advantage. Miller finally got enough pressure on Oneal to cause him to over drive into turn 3. Once out front Miller steadily pulled away earning a hard fought victory. Oneal hung on for second and the battle for third on back was intense. I will post the rundown later.

Let us all remember to keep the England famliy in our prayers.

Here are some pics from Tuesday!

Feb. 4, Monday's Feature at East Bay - From Dirt Scoops Reporter, Scott Miller

If Monday is any indication, people will be leaving East Bay at the end of the week with plenty to talk about. Unfortunately we had problems with our hotel rooms and missed most of the preliminary action, which saw Tim Dohm set fast time.

The feature line up was a virtual all star line up:

Row 1: Don Oneal and Tirkowitz(from canada)
Row 2: Justin Ratliff and Dennis Erb Jr.
Row 3: Steve francis and Donnie Moran
Row 4: Tim Dohm and Shannon Babb
Row 5: Terry Casey and Eric Jacobsen
Row 6: Billy Moyer and Scott James
Row 7: Billy Drake and Mike Marlar
Row 8: Matt Miller and Vic Coffey
Row 9: Tim McCreadie and Kevin Cole
Row10: Hawkins and Randy Korte
Row 11: Eddie Carrier Jr. and Damon Eller
Row 12: Harper and Terry English
Row 13: Clint Smith

Don Oneal from Martinsville, IN lead every lap on his way to Victory lane, but the battle for second was intense. Justin Ratliff held on to second most of the race till Matt Miller got by with 3 laps remaining. Dennis erb was running fourth as the field got the white flag, with an amazing drive off of turn 2 he got by Rattliff and then powered by Miller to take second at the stripe.

Randy Korte was involved in a lap 3 crash with Billy Drake. Korte was taken out of the car and loaded on to a stretcher. The announcer did not release any info on the conditon of Korte, but he was seen at the end of the night being transported to a local hospital. I will try to find out more on his condition tomorrow or the rest of the week.

Also on a sad note the father of late Model driver Michael England past away Sunday night. Please keep the England Family in all of our prayers. This was an emotional loss and many of the drivers were racing in memory of him tonight.
